I see the Rodeo Super Bowl
Hey, yall I hope everything's going well for you. Things have been going well here in Casper. Here is a quick rundown of what has been going on.
Monday, June 16th
Today was an awesome Payday.
We started our day off playing football with all the elders in the zone. We spent most of our day at the college national rodeo finals which was super awesome and super fun. I love spending time at the rodeo and watching the different events. We saw steer wrestling, goat tying, and bull riding. Then Elder Sterner and I went to a Chinese buffet because we had been fasting for 2 days to see how much we could eat. Then we got back to work progressively throughout the night we watched a storm cloud move in until about 8 o'clock. It just dumped rain. The roads became rivers and it was fun. Running from contact to contact from knocking on people's doors none of them answered so we got drenched but it was a great day!
Tuesday, June 17th
Today I hit 3 months as a missionary. Which to me is insane. It hasn't felt like it's been that long but I mean you do the math and that's indeed crazy. Today was an okay day with on and off showers, but we were tracking going from door-to-door for 2 hours today it started pouring while we were standing on someone's porch talking to them, but as soon as we left the covering of the porch, it stopped raining and we were able to finish knocking the rest of the street. It was awesome to see the hand of the Lord in my life to bless me in my missionary work.
Wednesday, June 18th.
Today was a pretty good day. We had district council in the morning, which is always usually pretty fun to do, and talk about our missionary work with other missionaries and help each other grow and learn to be better Missionaries did some contacting track and lessons tonight that were awesome
Thursday, June 19th.
Today was an awesome day. I had exchanges with Elder Dewey. He's a super awesome elder who's been out for a while and he taught me a lot about missionary work and being bold. But I also had my last interview with present Sandstrom today because he goes home next week. Which was kind of sad But I'm very glad and grateful that he was my mission President for 3 months.
Friday, June 20th.
Today was a pretty chill day. Nothing insane happened. I had a pretty awesome day, getting out and talking to people.
Saturday, June 21st.
Saturday was a pretty good day. We had some great lessons and some interesting experiences. We made like 20 phone calls with our new member. Scott is an absolute goat, but I had this one Dude who seemed to be a Christian conspiracy theorist. Try to tell me a bunch of weird and random things about the Old Testament. For how Jesus wasn't mentioned at all in the Old Testament and that some weird things I think he figured stopped believing him after about 30th “Wow, that's crazy”. I was on the phone with him for like 30 minutes and he kept talking and talking eventually, I just told him I had to go and cut the call off there. I don't think I'm gonna call him again lol.
Sunday, June 22nd.
The church was awesome. We had our friend Ron show up, which was great. In the afternoon, we had some lessons with some awesome and elect. People who seem like they're interested in learning more and progressing, so that's always awesome. It was just a good sabbath day. For those of you who know me, I don't like church which is kind of weird to say as a missionary and for the first time in a long time. I enjoyed going to sacrament meetings and the second hour. Which honestly was an answer to a prayer I had fasted today to find joy in going to church and God answered my prayer.
Monday, June 23rd.
Now to the real reason that you will be receiving my email on Tuesday. This morning we had the opportunity to once again clean the Casper temple this transfer is a blessing. I love cleaning the temple and brings me so much joy and happiness. Knowing that I'm helping others and myself. Grow closer unto my savior Jesus Christ. I love putting my best effort into every little thing I do when I clean the temple. Today was also a good day for missionary work. We found a couple of new people to start teaching and got back in contact with our friend Dave, who we hadn't heard from in a while.
I hope everything goes well for y'all in the upcoming week. President Sandstrom told me in interviews that I could be leaving Casper so my next email could have news about me leaving so look forward to that exciting announcement.
Spiritual thought
This week's spiritual thought comes from a quote I heard this week
some believe it is only
great power that can hold
evil in check, but that
is not what I have found.
I found it is the small
everyday deeds of ordinary
folk that keep the
darkness at bay... Small
acts of kindness and love.
-Gandalf
I like this quote because it's so true that through acts of kindness, we can keep the darkness out of our lives.
