I go shopping for baptisms at Walmart
Tuesday June 24th.
Today was a pretty good P Day, we had the opportunity to go to the temple. So that's what my morning consisted of mostly, which as a missionary going to the temple is an amazing experience that allows you to take refuge from the everyday hubbub and receive a Fuller measure of The Lord's power. After the
Temple, we went to the national trail history museum in Casper, with some other missionaries which was fun. We got to ride in a wagon across the North Platte river and pull a fully loaded hand cart and watch some interesting documentaries and learn some more about the Trip west taken by many settlers, including pioneers of the church. Overall, it was one of the better P days.
Wednesday, June 25th.
Today was pretty good. We Had our last zoom devotional with president and sister sandstorm. Our new mission president arrives Thursday evening and takes over the mission. We had district council today and I gave a training on the spirit and and how spirit is important in our teaching but I feel it went pretty well then we had some teaching and contact appointments. In the evening had an opportunity to speak to the youth in the red butte ward about missionary work and what it's like to teach a lesson and then we had snacks from all around the world, brought by members of our congregation, who had served their missions in different places, which was super awesome and then we had a couple more lessons in contacts and that's how we finished off our day.
Thursday, June 26th.
It was a pretty chill day. Nothing insane happened. Did some contacting in public and met some interesting people. But overall it was just a regular day.
Friday, June 27th
Today was awesome. I went on an exchange with my zone leader Elder Kurihara. He's a super awesome missionary from Hawaii. We had a really good day talking to people. It was one of the best days on the mission. We went to a Walmart parking lot and talked to a bunch of people who were there to go shopping and got some really cool new people to teach, and it taught me a lot about being bold as a missionary.
Saturday, June 28th.
Today was a good day. We started the day off playing football with the other elders in the zone and then went to clean out an old missionary apartment. So the church could sell. It was a really cool apartment with a lot of cool things. And just a long history of missionaries living there but cleaning out and moving everything out took a really large chunk of our Day Out. But we were able to get out and do some work and talk to people and meet this really mean guy who just cussed me out for no reason And all I did was keep asking him about Jesus and he kept getting mad. I thought it was pretty Funny because I told him that his language wasn't appropriate for the situation and he thought that was another good reason to cuss me out. it was a really good day.
Sunday, June 29th.
Today was a pretty good day. No one came to church, which sucked. But it was my mother's birthday so I was able to call home and talk to her which is always a blessing. I'm so glad that as a missionary I'm still able to do that. Tonight was T doc night which means we got our information on where we're gonna be spending the next 6 weeks. I will be staying here in Casper with a new companion elder Burt.
Monday, June 30th.
Today was a good day.I was able to meet my new mission President And his wife president and sister hall. I am so thankful for a present and sister Sandstrom and the amazing mission presents they have been for the past 3 months. But I know that President and sister hall were the mission presidents I was called to serve under and that I know the next 21 months are gonna be amazing for missionary work. Something really awesome that happened today. Was we were able to put our friend Jonathan on date for baptit was a super powerful spiritual experience. Cause the Holy Spirit kept telling me to bring up baptism. And when we brought up baptism. Jonathan said he had never been baptized, but would love to be baptized, which was awesome.
Spiritual thought.
My spiritual thought this week comes out of the book of mormon out of the book of mosaya chapter 13 verses 1 through 7. In this chapter the prophet Abinadi is talking to the wicked king Noah.
1 And now when the king had heard these words, he said unto his priests: Away with this fellow, and slay him; for what have we to do with him, for he is mad.
2 And they stood forth and attempted to lay their hands on him; but he withstood them, and said unto them:
3 Touch me not, for God shall smite you if ye lay your hands upon me, for I have not delivered the message which the Lord sent me to deliver; neither have I told you that which ye requested that I should tell; therefore, God will not suffer that I shall be destroyed at this time.
4 But I must fulfil the commandments wherewith God has commanded me; and because I have told you the truth ye are angry with me. And again, because I have spoken the word of God ye have judged me that I am mad.
5 Now it came to pass after Abinadi had spoken these words that the people of king Noah durst not lay their hands on him, for the Spirit of the Lord was upon him; and his face shone with exceeding luster, even as Moses’ did while in the mount of Sinai, while speaking with the Lord.
6 And he spake with power and authority from God; and he continued his words, saying:
7 Ye see that ye have not power to slay me, therefore I finish my message. Yea, and I perceive that it cuts you to your hearts because I tell you the truth concerning your iniquities.
I read this scripture the day after I had an experience where someone was insanely vile. And mean to me an older Sterner and it taught me that if we open our mouths to preach the word of God and to try to bring the good news to people, there will be people who will seek to do harm against us verbally or physically. But no man shall prevail against us if we are doing our work righteously, and we should have no need to fear.
