Hello how's everyone doing?
hope you're doing well and had an enjoyable week. I know you're probably checking your email inbox every 10 minutes yesterday and I'm sorry I forgot to say that it zone conference on Monday and my P-Day was Tuesday this week in my last email. So here's an update on what I've been doing in the past week.
Last Monday, for p-day we went to an escape room and played basketball at the church. Most of the day was really fun.
On Tuesday, I was having a really hard morning and was feeling really homesick So I knelt down and prayed and prayed hard and got the feeling that I needed to read my Book of Mormon more and pray that I would have peace and strength in this hard time. I've gotta tell you as I've followed those promptings, I have been less homesick and have been able to focus on the work.
Tuesday, for dinner, we went over to a member's house and I had elk for the first time, which I probably had it in a way you're not thinking of—I had elk hot dogs which were really good! Some of you know, having elk on my mission was something on my mission bucket list and I gotta check it off within a week of being here.
Wednesday and Thursday went pretty slow. We're having a really hard week here and our numbers aren't very good. A lot of people don't want to talk to us and very rude about it. I even had one lady run out of her house and tell us we didn't believe in Jesus and that we worshipped demons which I found really interesting. I've never worshiped a demon, so in my most Southern accent, I asked her if she liked Jesus very much and told her Jesus loved her and then walked away. Sometimes the haters gonna hate. ( I know there is probably a Taylor Swift reference and I'll want in to apologize. It wasn't intentional but I thought it fit).
On Friday was my first exchange. And for those who don't know what an exchange is, you go out with a different missionary than who you're assigned to be a companion with. I went out with a Spanish elder and did Spanish work and as an English missionary. I pretty much stood there and nodded my head yes, and acted like I understood what they were saying, which was kind of funny.
On Saturday , we went knocking doors and trying to contact some of our friends to make sure that they are coming to church on Sunday.
On Sunday, which was Easter Sunday, we had an amazing Easter. We got to celebrate our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and his resurrection and his glorious atonement that can save us from any sin. As a missionary Easter Sunday means so much more because it is so much easier to spread the amazing message of Jesus Christ and His gospel.
On Monday, yesterday was zone conference, which is a meeting with all the missionaries in the area with our mission president and we talk about how we can be better missionaries, talk about the hard things we're struggling with and how we make them better and find those who're ready and willing to accept the gospel.
My quick spiritual thought
I just want to share my quick testimony on how reading the Book of Mormon everyday can bless your life.
As I've read from the Book of Mormon every day in preparation for my mission and as a missionary I have felt The love of Jesus Christ in my life even on the hard days.I know that he loves me. This book brings me joy, happiness, and peace in those trying storms of life. It is a harbor and a lighthouse. I know as someone studies, even just for fifteen minutes a day, from the Book of Mormon, they will know that god loves them and has a plan for them. Anything that they're going through in life can be done through the love and power of Christ.
